A view down the barrel of the cannon type used by the U.S. Army against the Seminoles. These were very effective in battles fought on open, solid ground. Therefore, the Seminoles often tried to bring the fighting to the swamps, where the army's heavy artillery got bogged down easily. The Seminole Wars have many similarities to the Vietnam War, where American tanks and superior firepower proved equally ineffective against the resilient guerrila warfare waged in the jungles.
