This is the army road the soldiers travelled. In the 1830's, Florida was very much an unsettled wilderness, enough to make anyone from the north nervous. The soldiers faced hordes of insects, mosquitos, intense heat and humidity, sickness, deadly reptiles, and angry Seminoles reluctant to give up their land.
