Life returns to the blast zone. Mosses, plants, and trees slowly gain a foothold on the vast pumice plain north of the volcano. From this spot on Johnston Ridge Trail #207, you can see the new lava dome that has begun taking shape in the crater. Short of climbing to the top and looking in, the views don't get any better than this!
