Trail of Two Forests, USFS Road 8303. This short trail near the Ape Cave shows where lava once flooded an ancient forest. The lava solidified around standing tree trunks, which decomposed over time and left hollows like this. At one spot on the trail, you can crawl through a small tube where lava entombed a fallen tree.
