North Cascades National Park is definitely up north, pretty much as far north as you can get in the western half of the continental United States. As you can see, the park borders Canada and is about an hour and a half drive northeast of Seattle. Highway 20 is world famous for its scenic views, and luckily for backpackers, most people don't leave the area along the highway. That leaves many miles of mountainous wilderness to be explored. Most of the trails aren't easy, but the rewards are great, with many opportunities to observe wildlife, take in the panoramic views, and enjoy some quiet solitude. The town to base your adventures out of is Marblemount, where the backcountry park rangers are located. The folks are friendly and there's a great pizza place there, too! If you would like to learn more about the park, visit the official Website. Otherwise, return to Basecamp and begin your adventure!
